Prayer Ministry

Sunday Afternoon Prayer - Fall is coming. School is starting and can the holidays be so close? So much is happening. Stopping to pray gives us focus and direction. Please join us at the Sunday Afternoon Prayer Time every Sunday at 12:45p in the prayer room. Are you interested in starting a prayer group? Contact Sandy , sandybixler1@sbcglobal.net.

Tuesday Morning Prayer - We meet every Tuesday morning from 9:30--10:30 am to pray for the needs of our church. We pray over the prayer cards & prayer lists that are turned in each week, in addition to any other needs we become aware of. If you feel led to lift up our church and its people in prayer, we encourage you to join us on Tuesday mornings! For information contact Paula Rife, paula.rife@tx.rr.com, 972-463-1133.

Tuesday Evening Prayer - Come join us so that we can get to know one another better; to pray and praise the Lord Jesus Christ and to ask Him to bless us with His mighty Presence. He promised in His holy Word: "where two or three come together in my Name, there am I with them." Mt. 18:20 .Come to the prayer room at 6:30 P.M.

Financial Peace University

Taught by radio personality Dave Ramsey, this 13-week course will be offered on two different nights for your convenience, beginning in September. Dave Ramsey teaches a biblical approach to managing finances. Cost of the class will include the cost of your books, audio CDs, and a lifetime membership so that you may access all the online tools at Financial Peace University.

We will offer a 30 minute Orientation class on Sunday, August 31st at 6:30pm, in the Sanctuary to learn more about the program and to sign up for the class. Participants may choose from either the Sunday evening class, which will meet from 6:30–8:30p (beginning Sept. 14th), or the Tuesday evening class, which will meet from 6:30–8:30p, (beginning Sept. 16th). Childcare will be provided. For information visit www.daveramsey.com.

Wednesday Night for Kids

Volunteers needed for GAP Kids choir in Kinder-5th grade - We especially need someone to work with the pre-school choir. You do not need music experience, just a love for the children and a willingness to have fun. I am planning a great year but we have to have volunteers. Gap Kids will start on Wednesday, Sept. 3rd at 6:15pm. Please call Karen Burt at 972-333-8800 to help.

Secret Agent Managers Wanted to lead Mission Possible Kids - We are looking for special people to lead our Secret Agents (the children) during our Wednesday night program which will start on September 3rd.  Mission Possible Kids runs from 7-8 pm right after GAPkids choir which starts at 6:15pm.  Our leaders help the agents with mission projects.  For information contact bridget.williams@fumc-rowlett.org.

Mission Moments

The Hope in Hand Food Pantry - We have an urgent need from the food pantry. They are totally out of Mac and cheese, cereal, peanut butter and jelly. With children home for the summer, these are staple items. Please purchase extra items when you are at the grocery store. Place your donation on the shelves in the Mission Corner.

Cell Phones for Soldiers - We are a drop-off point for Cell Phones for
Soldiers. They turn old cell phones into more than 12 million minutes of prepaid calling cards for U.S. troops stationed overseas. These cards provide an 800 number, which supplies the user with an hour of talk time. You may bring your old cell phones to the church office or to the Missions Corner.

Relay for Life - This annual event will be here before you know it, September 26th! We are looking for teams, so if you are interested in participating on a team or starting your own team, contact Sherry, sherry.lundswick@fumc-rowlett.org. Be watching for a table in the Narthex in the very near future, to answer questions, sign-up survivors, accept donations, etc. So many of our members have been affected by cancer this year and this is our way of helping to fight for a cure.

Women's Bible Studies

Women's Evening Bible Study - Beginning September 3rd from 6:30pm - 8:00pm, we will begin an 8-week study focusing on prayer. Our resource for the study will be The Workbook of Living Prayer, by Maxie Dunnam. The need for prayer remains constant and this study will help the experience of prayer to come alive. The study will end on October 22nd, just before this year's Women's Conference, Prayer U - Praying your Personality on October 25th. Cost is $10 for materials and childcare is available. Contact Taunja Weber, taunja.weber@fumc-rowlett.org.

Wednesday Morning' Bible Study - We will begin a new study September 3rd from 9-11am. We will delve into the Psalms 120-134, with the Beth Moore study, Stepping Up: A Journey Through the Psalms of Ascent. On September 3rd we will view the Intro DVD and have texts available for purchase. The cost is $20. We welcome interested ladies to join us in our time of study and sharing. We will feast together on a brunch-type potluck, we hope you decide to join us! Contact Joy Boutakov, jboutakov@gmail.com for information.
