Youth Raise the Bar Through Missions

This March our church sent 51 people (13 adults and 38 youth) to serve through missions in Zaragoza, Mexico. Our team built two houses (one house 10X10 and one 10X20) start to finish in four days. It was an amazing experience! We were participating in the AMOR Ministries mission organization which seeks to help families in Mexico have a dry, warm place to live. The organization sets the standard for mission excellence and extreme enculturation and labor in the mission field. As part of the trip and the experience we stayed in an enclosed field without any running water or electricity. To add to the experience we stayed in tents and were not allowed to use any power tools on the work site. This accomplished many things but most of all it allowed everyone to get a hands-on view of servanthood and a true exposure to the Mexico way of life.

The resilience of our youth shone through as we endured bitterly cold weather, downpouring rains, and tough working conditions. Many of our youth commented things like "I saw Jesus in the joy of all the kids around and in the faces of the families we worked for." Isn't it amazing to see what blessings pour down from above when we go out of our comfort and serve in love. May God put in your heart and passion for missions and serving others.
