The Cross and FlameConfirmation

In the United Methodist Church, we believe that there is a point when young Christians reach an "age of accountability."  This means that they are at a time in their life when they need to take responsibility for their own faith.  A youth who has been baptized as an infant needs the opportunity to respond publicly and personally to God's call.  Those who have not been baptized also need this opportunity.  In short, this is a time for them to learn more about the Christian faith, specifically Methodism, and about what the decision to follow Christ means.

This is traditionally done during the sixth grade year, although our church occasionally offers a more concentrated Spring class for older youth.  After one school year of learning about Christian and Methodist history, beliefs, and ways of living, the youth makes the decision to confirm or "make firm" their faith and baptism.

**A very important change to note is that the 2011-12 Confirmation Class will begin meeting Sunday mornings during the current 6th grade Learn Group hour.  The location will also change to the Scout House adjacent to the church.  This will take place after the Christmas Break, beginning Sunday, January 15th @ 9:45am.
